John F. Wood was born about 1901. He was a Indianapolis Councilman in 1908. He sold insurance for liability of city employee to the street repairs and maintenance, from the Illinois Surety Company.

He went missing in 1 Jun 1910 and the States Attorney's Office started putting things together. He was missing for a year, until the bail bondsman wind of him in Minnesota.
He had forged so many notes under so many names including his own sister-in-law Betty Woods. I found many newspapers clippings on this.

I searched the internet for information on him and I made him a tree on Ancestry and I did not find out much. Most of the information came from his wanted poster and newspaper articles. There were no articles saying what his sentence was, just that he was placed in Michigan City Prison in Indiana and he became the prison bookkeeper. Which means he was paid as it was a prison job. Funny how the warden would trust him keeping the books after embezzling the government for several years. Makes no sense to me at all.
