Charles Cavanaugh was born Lexon Charles Cavanaugh on 3 Oct 1892 in Mountain Grove, MO to John H Cavanaugh (1870-1954) & Mary C Reed (1871-1949).
A reason was never given as to where he was or why they couldn't find him. There may have been family problems as his siblings would all leave California for Washington shortly after this happened. He is listed on his mother obituary so he wasn't completely lost to them.
He was an ambulance driver in 1914 in San Bernardino, CA.
Charles would the service and stay in it for 25 years. He spent time in France during the war.

2 Sep 1917 soldiers leaving for training camp.
He was in Company H of the 364th Infantry, departed Camp Lewis in late June 1918 by train for New Jersey. From Hoboken, New Jersey, they boarded ships to cross the Atlantic and set sail on July 12, 1918. It took them almost two weeks to reach France.
After the was Charles stayed in France for a few months leaving on 25 March 1919. Was he thinking of staying there? He was discharged from service on 26 July 1945 according to his WWII Draft Card, as a Corporal.

On 31 May 1949 Charles would meet his fate of death at age 56.
