David A Fountain was born 20 Jun 1864, in Illinois or Iowa, there are conflicts with records. His parents were Francis Charles Fountain (1829-1907) & Mary Elizabeth Thompson (1841-1908).

David was working at the German Lutheran Church as a janitor in 1914. He killed a little girl named Margaret Milling, she was 10 yrs old, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Wilhelm J Milling.

So how did he get here? Lets look at his life.
He ran away from home at age 10, says his father was a mean drunk and would beat him.
Aug 1887 he was at Mount Pleasant, IA Insane Asylum
Sep 1887 he was transferred to Clarinda Asylum and he escaped 25 May 1889. He used an alias of Frank Fairchild.
27 Nov 1894 he was discharged from a 2 yr prison sentence.
1896 he gets a 7 year sentence for burglary in Page County, IA. Aug 1907 he gets 5 yrs for Assaulting Mrs. Floy Reed.
He also did 3 years at Cherry Hill, PA dates unknown.
