Alta was first married at age 19 in Chicago, IL to Frederick B. Goins the 8 Mar 1903, she then married Sherman Jackson in Havre, MT 10 Jan 1909. They had not been married for very long before she went to prison.

Sherman Jackson was born 15 Jan 1887 in Fort Grant, AZ to James Jackson & Nancy Sears (1856-1928)

This was not his first conviction, the newspaper articles start his criminal career in 1904 when his mother reports him to be incorrigible, here is what I found.

I do know what happened to Sherman's father but he must of died when he was young. His mother married again to Eugene Powell (1851-1927) and out lived her second husband. She was very active in her community and her church, she died in 1928, here are two newspaper articles I found.

Sherman was in World War one and played the bugle

He would also marry again to Ruth Watson and they would leave Montana for Washington where he would die in 1968. I found the following records and obituary.

I have no idea what happened to Alta, she may have moved to Chicago to be with her mom. I do know her brother Earnest William Gladden named his daughter Alta and he was a musician in a café in Chicago.
