Look like he may have been a charged twice with this same crime and was acquitted once. I found some newspaper articles, the first one is from 1907 and the second is from 1908.
He had several properties and lived very close to the Canadian border and in the 1920's he was trouble again for moonshine, which he blamed the sheriff for, both article below are from 1923.
I found no family and no census records which doesn't surprise me if he was living in the woods. I di fin his death index and his Find-A-Find Memorial.
Curt died 23 Nov 1926 in Oroville, WA he was 63 years old dying of labored Pneumonia
I wonder if was ever lonely up there all by himself or if that was the way he wanted it. May he had seen war in his earlier days or had a hard childhood, but in any case he lived his life his way.
