Enola Juanita Ross: Ventra Girl's Reform School

Enola Juanita Ross was born 6 Oct 1897 in Salinas County, CA to John Sanborn Ross (1862-1913) & Evaline Caroline Halflich (Haflich) (1861-1908)

This school for girls held some bad girls as well, ones who ran away, broke the law ect. This was not an Orphanage.

Why couldn't any of these siblings take poor little 9 year old Enola? I just do not understand, this poor little girl. She made a life for herself, she married Cecil Frank Davey in 1914 and they had 2 children,  Emily & Cecil Frank Davey. She would die in July of 1983.

Such a sad story but I wanted to write this story to show another avenue of research. Sometimes children were taken away or the parents couldn't take care of them and signed them over to the state. Reform Schools aren't just for guilty kids, I know I was a Youth Coach at a few and not all the children were there because of something they did, it could of been because the only care giver was sent to prison, or they were neglected, physically abused, mental abused or both. There are just so many reasons for the court system to place children in certain places. So never give up.
