Frances Zeitler Murder or Suicide?

Frances Zeitler was born 12 Nov 1851 in Germany, she was married to George Charles Gehrig and they had the following children.

1) George Charles Gehrig

2) Annie Gehrig

3) Louis Gehrig

4) Joseph Gehrig

5) William Gehrig

6) Frederick Gehrig

The husband George said he would put up a $5,000 reward, he was wealthy, he owned a Milwaukee Brewery.  I found a photo of his brewery and description from Wikipedia.

Frances told her family she was going to visit her sister, but in fact did not, she went to the National Hotel and registered under her maiden name. I found many newspaper articles all from 1897, I will post them in order.

The coroner found small small fragments of charcoal in her hair, no charcoal stains on her hands. She had a fractured skull. Looks like the body had been dragged.

Thoughts? I think she was murdered, and they never found who did it, so this would be a very cold case, and perhaps a forgotten one as well. I would like to know why she thought her husband lied to her and what it was he lied about.

I wanted to share this story as sometime we run into these strange things in our family trees, and although the police records for this case would never be found, we have the newspaper articles to help us along. I made her a tree and attached everything to it.
